"I LOVE YOU" CHAPTER 8

After Leaving the Kim Home
“Kim Young Min”

I opened the bedroom door, Eun Sun looked as if she was sleeping peacefully; I walked over to the bed and sat down beside her, placing my hand on her back remembering how upset she had been earlier and through all those tears we were able to console each other with making love. While making love she cried silently as I embraced her to me. Afterwards I lay there holding her, listening to her shallow sobs and light breathing, until finally Eun Sun fell asleep.
Hours have passed and she is still asleep, as I watched her I wondered what I could do to ease her pain and help her to find her smile again. She stirred a little and moved onto her back, but the face I saw was not Eun Suns it was my sisters’ face. Quickly I pulled the covers back, startled Jae Hwa woke up. I say,
“Where is she?"
“Where is who?”
“Eun Sun, where is she”
“She’s….”
Jae Hwa turned only to find a cold empty spot where Eun Sun had been. She scrambled off the bed. I took her by her shoulder and shook her just a bit and fear formed in her face and in her voice,
“She was just here, she was sleep.”
The commotion and loudness of my voice brought my father into the room. My hands still on Jae Hwa shoulder, he burst in.
“What is going on at this hour of the night? Let go of your sister.”
I released her and rushed over to the closet and sure enough a bag and some of Eun Suns clothes were missing. I stepped back slowly,
“Oh god she gone, no… no… no.”
Father and Jae Hwa turned to face the closet, before they could stop me I was out of the door and down to the gate yelling her name, my father and sister following behind me, but there was no sign of Eun Sun at the gate or outside of the gate. I yelled her name at the top of my lungs and still she didn’t answer. Oh god where had she gone. All the yelling caught the attention of the posted guards and my mother came out from the guesthouse.
“Min Kyung, what is going on this late at night?”
The one person in the world I didn’t want to see right now, but then again, I rushed at my mother in a fit of anger, seeing her was seeing red; I grabbed her roughly by the arms, and I felt my hand go around her neck and I began to squeeze.
“Where the hell is she! What did you say to her this time! Why can’t you just leave us alone! It wasn’t enough for you kill my baby but now you send Eun Sun away from me too! Where did you send her?”
Mother look terrified, her eyes wildly looking at me. There were hands on me, pulling me back away from her. Mother fell to the ground gasping for air; her hands clasped across her chest, the two guards holding me back used all their strength I was trying to get to her. Jae Hwa crying for me to stop, but my anger wouldn’t let me be calm.
“Let me go!”
I broke free, and took one charge forward father quickly jumped between mother and I. I knew better than to treat my elders this way; I also knew not to go against my father not out of fear but out of respect for him. I pointed my finger at my mother,
“That’s right hide behind him, you better pray I find Choi Eun Sun because if I don’t your days in the house will be numbered.”
Finally that scream that I had been suppressing escaped. Jae Hwa was pulling at my arm pulling back into the house and to the family room. I paced back in forth running my hands through my hair trying to think of where she would go. I was worried Eun Sun wasn’t fully recovered; she still needed to be rest. What if something happens to her out there alone, women shouldn’t be out by themselves this late. Her only relative was her sister Soon Yi in Guri. I dialed her number she answered the first ring, Soon Yi hadn’t heard from Eun Sun either, but said she would call if she showed up at her home. Father came in.
“You scared the hell out of your mother Young Min.”
“As well she should be scared, none of this would be happening if she had left us alone. Eun Sun is the one suffering not mother, I could care less about her.”
“I’ve called the police to report Eun Sun missing. Your mother says she had nothing to do with Eun Sun leaving she was in the guesthouse all night. I will also put out a reward for the first person that can find her and put some men on the streets to search. Young Min she may have left on her own.”
“She wouldn’t leave without saying something!”
“Son, think about the past three weeks, and this afternoon, I don’t Eun Sun felt comfortable.”

I stormed out of the house. Whether she was uncomfortable or not it’s not like Eun Sun to disappear this way.  I drove around all night looking for her stopping people showing them her picture asking if she had been seen, every person said no. Eun Sun had completely disappeared. At six in the morning I found myself parked in front of Soon Yi’s house, sleep had not come to me. Eun sun had to have come here last night.  I will not sleep until I find her.
